Need Help: ScopeCam 2 4K Won’t Turn On After Firmware Update

I’m having an issue with my ScopeCam 2 4K. After updating to the latest firmware, the camera won’t turn on. I’ve tried the following steps but nothing has worked:

  • Check the battery: Ensured it’s fully charged and properly inserted.

  • Restart: Held the power button for 10 seconds to attempt a restart.

  • Firmware update: Followed the official guide to update the firmware.

Despite this, the camera only shows a steady red light and doesn’t respond further.

I’d really appreciate any advice from the community or the RunCam support team on how to fix this issue.

Thanks in advance!

Best regards,

Since you've tried basic troubleshooting steps like checking the battery and restarting, I would suggest performing a hard reset if possible or reinstalling the firmware. If that doesn't work, contacting RunCam support directly might be the best option, as they could provide a more specific solution or guide you through a firmware recovery process.

A steady red light after an update usually means the camera is stuck in firmware or bootloader mode. A few things you can try that often help:

    1. Reflash the firmware

      • Format the microSD card to FAT32 on a computer.

      • Download the firmware again from the official RunCam site (in case the file was corrupted).

      • Copy only the firmware file to the root of the SD card, insert it, and power the camera on again.

      • Leave it powered for a few minutes even if it looks unresponsive.

    2. Try a different SD card
Some cards don’t play well with firmware updates. If you have another known-good microSD card (ideally 32GB or smaller), try repeating the update process with that.

    3. Power without the SD card
Remove the SD card completely and try powering the camera on. If it boots normally, that points to a firmware or card issue.

    4. Full power reset
Remove the battery, leave the camera unplugged for 5–10 minutes, then reinsert the battery and try again.

If none of the above works, it’s best to contact RunCam support directly with your camera’s serial number and firmware version. They can confirm whether recovery firmware or an RMA is needed.

Hopefully one of these steps brings it back — let us know how it goes so others can learn from geometry dash too.
